I looked at her
Like a child who has just caught
His first glimpse of the ocean
All at once
I became aware
Of my place in the world
Of the infinity of space
Near me
She appeared boundless
As eternal as night and day
I felt I could lose myself
In her depths
She smiled
Dawn broke over the waters
I became blind
And thought what fools
Seek God in the desert
